Laser racing is nothing less than one-design competition in its purest form. The Laser boasts a long list of veterans who are Olympic Medallists, America's Cup Helmsman, and Collegiate All-Americans. Laser racing gives you the opportunity to race against these sailors at the national level and emphasizes the skills necessary for anyone who aspires to reach this level. It's no wonder the International Sailing Federation awarded the Laser Olympic status!
Three rig choices ensure almost everyone can sail a Laser!
Laser rigs come in three sizes, designed for different sized sailors, all used with the same hull and blades. The standard Laser full rig is a powerful 76 square feet for adult sailors. The Laser Radial has a downsized 62 square feet of sail area and is designed for women, small adults, and youth sailors. The Laser 4.7 has a small 50 square feet of sail area which is perfect for youth sailors coming up out of the Optimist.
